Hair Saviours

This year i have dyed my hair THREE times. Which is just ridiculous.

Screen Shot 2015-10-04 at 22.55.47

Auburn (March 2015), Fiery Red (May 2015, this picture doesn’t do the colour justice, but if you look at my roots and real hair closely, you’ll see that I went a good 3 shades lighter), and Black (September 2015).

Really, really terrible. But because I can’t really wear closures- I have a small forehead  and my hairline is practically at my eyebrows, so the closure has to be placed too far forward and it just looks off. That may not make any sense but trust me, it does not look good. BUT I LOVE COLOUR! And when I get the urge to change my hairstyle its like a burning fire in my chest and I get so restless until I do it. Does this happen to anyone else?? #AquariusProblems

Anyways- So why do I still have edges?  It might be a combination of good strong Igbo genes and my mother’s endless prayers (She’s so scared my hair will betray me one day, God will win though!), but it also has to do with a few key products such as the ones seen in the image above.

Most of us know about how amazing Jamaican Black Castor Oil is. This oil is rich in Omega-9 fatty acid which is incredibly nourishing and moisturising. The oil stimulates hair growth and prevents breakage. I massage a tiny bit of the oil everyday into my scalp. JBCO is absorbed quite quickly by the scalp which is great so my hair doesn’t get too greasy.

But the Red Pimento Hair Growth Oil is the real MVP. Why? This oil is a potent mix of red pimento pepper oil and JBCO which stimulates hair follicles to improve hair growth and the condition of your scalp. Now with THIS I saw a very noticeable difference with my hair growth in a short period of time. I use this twice a week (this is the maximum for relaxed hair) but Naturalistas can use this every 2-3 days.  The days I use this oil, I don’t use the JBCO.

Mind you, your hair will smell like jollof rice but (1) Its not that strong (2) The results are amazing and (3) Is that such a bad thing? 🙂

My hair is pretty darn healthy considering all the bleaching, and now that I’ve decided to put away the peroxide permanently (who am I kidding??) I’m pretty excited to see the results.

Have you tried any of these?

Let me know,

Hi Dabs! It was so nice meeting you (and the Watermelon 🙂 ) today at Beauty Africa! Nne, I don’t think I have the strength to dye again, you literally have to treat your child like a baby- and I have 2 already! Thank you so so much for your comment, I really appreciate it especially coming from a guru like you. Thanks again xx

I have a lot of grey hair and friends said its as a result of dying my hair all the time. Pleas how true is this?

Hi Metche! That is untrue, dyeing hair won’t make you go grey- you have a lot of grey hair because you are very wise and you are about to hit big money very soon lol!

Hi Stephy! Thank you so much for your comment, so glad you like the site.
So castor oil is the one. Not just regular castor oil, Jamaican Black Castor Oil is LIFE. The Red Pimento Oil is actually made from Pimento pepper, which makes it a cooking ingredient actually lol! And it definitely makes your hair smell a bit like Party Rice- but is that such a bad thing? And it works! Please try it if you can, its awesome xx

Hi just stumbled to your site and am loving it. I have thick, stubborn hair that has defied any form of relaxer. No matter what I try on my hair it never has that silky smooth texture. Pls do u have any recommendations on what I can do? It also breaks easily so doesn’t grow in length

Hi Didi! Thank you so much for your comment.
My hair is similar actually, it never got really straight until I tried this brand called Vitale and I’ve never looked back. It doesn’t break my hair too, my hair is quite delicate after years and years of dyeing it. Give it a try and please let me know how it goes xx
