Jumia February Beauty Haul

Hi everyone! Sorry for my absence last week. My mummy turned 60! And because I am so extra, I planned not one but TWO parties for her. I also spoke at Social Media Week (can you imagine?? ME??) on Friday- which was SO much fun by the way. I was so nervous beforehand but I think I did a decent job. So I’m exhausted, but glad to be back here.

Once again, the good people at Jumia.com allowed me run wild in their Beauty and Health Section. Like I mentioned previously, it still blows my mind that their Beauty section is soon extensive. It is definitely worth a look. So I wanted to show you my new goodies.

I had a BeautyBlender, but it is pink and squishy- and therefore VERY attractive to my kids. Everytime they come into my room, one of them invariably snatches it, rubs it on the floor, CHEWS it, or uses it as football. My poor pink sponge was in tatters. So I was very happy to find the original BeautyBlender on the Jumia site. The BeautyBlender is one of those beauty tools that has become an essential part of my makeup routine, so much so that I quite frankly cannot remember what I was doing before it. It makes my foundation application even, and I love that it adds some hydration to my foundation (I use my sponge wet) which makes my skin look more glow-y and luminous.

Organic Turmeric

I’ve mentioned my Turmeric and Bentonite clay mask several times on the site. So glad I spotted this bottle because it is a generous quantity and should last me a while. Organic Turmeric works waaaaaaay better than the non organic by the way, so make sure you get that!

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion

I don’t use eyeshadow to be honest, but I use black liner ALL the time. I got this to make my eyeliner last longer. AND IT DOES! I LOVE THIS! Applying this really mattifies my very oily eyelids thereby extending my liner’s life.

Carol’s Daughter lavender and Vanilla Dry Oil Mist

I’m obsessed with Vanilla scents, and I like Dry Oil because it gives your skin a nice sheen without making it greasy . I love the way my skin looks and feels when I use it, although the scent is much more lavender than vanilla.

All these products are available on the Jumia website (www.jumia.com).

And that’s my latest haul! Have you tried any of these products?

Hey Nicole, I am a huge fan and thanks for all the healthy tips on beautiful skin. I am expecting right now and my skin is a huge mess! Hyper pigmentation, acne and all manner of stuff. I am swollen and avoid looking at the mirror for too long. Sigh!

Please could you recommend what to do and how to get my skin back after child birth and what products to use that is safe while breast feeding.

    Thanks much!

      Hi Asabe!!

CONGRATS HUN! How exciting! How far along are you now? Wishing you the very best with the rest of the pregnancy and delivery.

Sadly skin wahala is one of the MANY JOYS of pregnancy! I commiserate with you. Everything will probably settle down after you have the baby. I would say just stick with your regular routine, maybe throw in some Benzoyl Peroxide? I used Benzoyl Peroxide and Salicylic Acid through my two pregnancies with absolutely no problems. Have you seen my skincare routine post? Everything EXCEPT the Duac gel should be fine to use during pregnancy and even with breastfeeding.

Good luck! And please let me know how everything goes xx

Ok Nicki, the moment you posted this, I took off my shoes and ran to jumia literally, lol! My hubby was in Lagos at the time and was to return to SA in 2 days so I quickly placed an order for the beauty blender and the dry oil mist cos I was like, whatever Nicole considers essential, I better get it cos we are problematic oily skin twins! Hehe! So hubby returned today and with no makeup on I quickly sprayed the mist to see what it’s like, opened my eyes and my face was flooded with oil! What??? (Nicole is so dead!) Lol! So here’s my question: how da hell do you use it gurl? Spray from a distance? Massage it in? Coach your gurl biko! Yet to try the beauty blender, will let u know.

Hi Oby! OH NOOOO DON’T KILL ME! Okay you may kill me, but this is completely my fault because I did not specify that it is for the body not for the face! Sister Oby I am SO SO SORRY! I’ll have to go and edit that right away. It should be nowhere near your face please! Its just a nice mist to give your body skin an extra sheen.

Let me know when next you are in Lagos and I’ll buy you icecream!

Also, the BeautyBlender is FABULOUS- try it today and be amazed! xx
